Miranda Parkes - PainterMiranda Parkes graduated from National Art School in 1993 and started exhibiting at Beatty Gallery that same year. "Three Forms" was purchased at one of her first exhibitions. In !995 Miranda was invited to participate in "Up down & across" and exhibition of the works of Tony Tuckson and by artists who had been influenced by Tuckson's painting. "Detour at Four Mile Creek" is the work painted by Miranda for this exhibition, It was purchased for the collection from seeing the image reproduced in the catalogue, as we could not get to the opening.
Miranda said that while painting this work she suddenly suffered from"painter's block", and could not see how to continue. After pondering the half completed work she suddenly sat down and wrote a poem and this provided the key to completing the painting.
